Men's Health & Testosterone Assessment in Leicestershire

Not feeling quite like yourself lately?

Perhaps you're constantly tired, your sex drive has changed, or you've noticed that your energy and motivation aren't what they used to be.

You've put it down to getting older, a stressful job or simply having too much on your plate.

But you've started wondering whether something else could be going on.

Could your testosterone levels be part of the picture?

At Bosworth Health Suite & Pharmacy, we offer private men's health consultations and hormone assessments to help you understand your symptoms, investigate possible causes and explore appropriate next steps.

Recognising the changes you've been living with

Sometimes changes in your health happen so gradually that you barely notice them at first.

You might recognise some of these experiences:

  1. Feeling tired even after a reasonable night's sleep.

  1. Noticing a reduction in your sex drive.

  1. Finding it harder to maintain your usual strength or muscle mass.

  1. Experiencing changes in your mood or concentration.

  1. Having difficulties with erections or sexual wellbeing.

  1. Feeling that your general energy and motivation have changed.

These symptoms can have several causes, including sleep problems, stress, medication effects and other health conditions.

Low testosterone is one possible explanation, but symptoms alone cannot confirm it.

The important thing is understanding what's happening, rather than assuming it's simply part of getting older.

What is low testosterone?

Testosterone is a hormone involved in several aspects of men's health, including sexual function, muscle and bone health, and red blood cell production.

Levels can change over time, but having symptoms does not necessarily mean you have a testosterone deficiency.

A diagnosis of testosterone deficiency, also known as male hypogonadism, requires an assessment of your symptoms alongside appropriate blood testing and clinical evaluation.

Our approach focuses on understanding your wider health, not simply looking at one number.

1. We start with your concerns

You'll have the opportunity to discuss your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and anything you've noticed changing.

This may include conversations about energy, sleep, sexual health, mood, medication and other relevant factors.

2. We investigate appropriately

Where clinically indicated, we can arrange relevant blood testing, including testosterone measurements.

Testosterone levels need to be assessed carefully. Repeat morning testing and additional investigations may be necessary before a diagnosis can be made.

3. We discuss your results

Your results are considered alongside your symptoms and overall health.

We'll explain what the findings mean, whether further investigation is required and which next steps may be appropriate.

4. We explore your options

If a hormone deficiency is identified, suitable management options can be discussed according to your individual circumstances and clinical needs.

Not everyone with symptoms will require hormone treatment, and not everyone with a low result will be suitable for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have low testosterone?
Symptoms alone aren't enough to diagnose testosterone deficiency. An appropriate clinical assessment and blood tests are needed to investigate whether testosterone levels may be contributing to your symptoms.
Can low testosterone affect sex drive and energy?
Low testosterone can be associated with changes in sexual function and other symptoms. However, tiredness and low libido are common and can have many different causes.
Do I need a blood test?
Blood testing is usually part of investigating suspected testosterone deficiency. Your clinician can advise which tests are appropriate and when they should be taken.
What if my testosterone levels are normal?
Your symptoms still deserve appropriate consideration. Other possible causes may need to be explored, and your clinician can advise on suitable next steps.
Is testosterone treatment suitable for everyone?
No. Any prescription treatment requires an individual clinical assessment, confirmation of an appropriate diagnosis and consideration of potential risks, contraindications and monitoring requirements.
What if I'm planning to have children?
Please mention this during your consultation. Fertility plans are an important consideration when investigating and managing testosterone deficiency.
Can I arrange a private appointment?
You can contact Bosworth Health Suite & Pharmacy to discuss the available men's health assessment service and how to arrange an appointment.
